SKELNAĆEM TŦE NE SNÁ Kyle Louis
Good Day! My name is Kyle Louis (Skul’naachm)
I am happy to be the new Fisheries Liaison for Tsawout FN. My dad is John Louis Jr from Musqueam and my late mother is Marilyn Watson from Sechelt. Growing up in Sechelt/Musqueam, I have been in and around the fishing industry my entire life – from the fishing side to the political side.
I look forward to working with the community and outside partners to help strengthen the fishing capacity and food security for the Nation. The old people said “when the tide is out the table is set” and I firmly believe that. I believe strongly in our way of life as Coast Salish people and understand the importance of seafood for our traditional diet as well as for our tables in the Bighouse.
I am excited to be able to mentor the younger generation coming behind us to harvest and preserve for their families and community. Our children are our future.
I raise my hands to the community of Tsawout for having me be apart of their journey with fisheries. I am looking forward to getting to know each of you better along the way.
