DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES

Under the direction of the Lands Manager, the Program Coordinator, will be responsible for the coordination of a summer Species at Risk Project for Tsawout Children and Youth. The Coordinator will be responsible for the monitoring, implementation, and reporting of the Junior Stewards of Tsawout Lands Project. 

You will possess the necessary facilitation skills to deliver educational Species at Risk workshops regarding the conservation and enhancement of the T̸IX̱EṈ Spit area, as well as work on Species at Risk recovery and monitoring activities. This position will also provide administrative, cultural and environmental support to the Junior Stewards of Tsawout Lands Project. 

This is a part-time term position that is subject to funding. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND RELATED EXPERIENCE:

Preference will be given to, but not limited applicants who possess the following:

  • Minimum Grade 12. Some post-secondary or university training would be an asset; or related experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office and internet applications.
  • Willing to learn about the Species at Risk in our Territory and have knowledge in the area of environmental conservation planning.
  • Knowledge and experience of similar program delivery in the context of Tsawout culture and history.
  • Effective written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to use tact and good judgment in dealing with sensitive and complex issues.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality guidelines of all records, materials and communications concerning clients/community members, staff and Tsawout First Nation.
