Student Success Liaison

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Learning Supports and Program Delivery
- Develop, coordinate, and deliver in community culturally grounded learning supports and educational programming for children and youth in Grades K-12 that strengthen academic success, well-being, and belonging.
- Build strong school-to-community connections by helping align school-based learning goals with community supports, family engagement, cultural learning, and student success planning.
- Create welcoming, safe, and inclusive learning environments that support the social, emotional, physical, cognitive, and cultural development of children and youth.
- Provide direct student support, advocacy, mediation, and liaison services between schools, students, families, caregivers, and Education staff to strengthen communication and shared problem-solving.
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and service providers to identify barriers to learning, coordinate interventions, and connect students to tutoring, mentoring, cultural supports, and other educational resources.
- Support student transitions between grades, schools, alternative learning settings, and post-secondary training, or employment pathways.
- Provide guidance to students and families regarding educational pathways, graduation planning, attendance expectations, available resources, and opportunities for long-term success.
- Support regular attendance, positive engagement, and student retention by helping address academic, social, emotional, transportation, or family-related barriers to learning.
- Support students in attaining the BC Dogwood Graduation Diploma and other individualized learning goals through coordinated, student-centred learning supports.
- Develop and coordinate after-school, spring break, summer, and community-based learning opportunities that extend student learning beyond the classroom.
- Develop recognition and incentive initiatives that celebrate student achievement, growth, participation, and positive contributions to school and community life.
- Track participation, supports provided, and student outcomes to contribute to student success reporting, program improvement, and funding or reporting requirements
Operations and Program Coordination
- Assist with the recruitment, training, scheduling, and supervision of Student Success Facilitators.
- Coordinate and support student registration processes.
- Support day-to-day operations, including scheduling and emergency response coordination. Community Engagement and School Connections
- Strengthen relationships between students, families, schools, and community by promoting open communication, shared understanding, and collaborative support planning.
- Facilitate community education events, family engagement activities, and student recognition opportunities that encourage participation, relationship-building, and celebration of learning.
- Communicate with families regarding student success, attendance, school updates, program opportunities, and available learning supports and services.
- Provide information to students, families, and community members about SȾÁUTW̱ Education programs, school-based supports, community learning opportunities, and how to access them.
- Share relevant information, updates, and summary data with leadership and community in ways that support transparency, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.
Partnerships & Collaboration
- Collaborate with families, community members, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and language teachers to integrate SENĆOŦEN language, W̱ SÁNEĆ cultural teachings, land-based learning, and community knowledge into student learning supports.
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with schools, school district partners, post-secondary institutions, service agencies, and community organizations to improve coordination of supports and learning opportunities for students.
- Represent the SȾÁUTW̱ First Nation Education Department at meetings, case-planning discussions, community events, Indigenous Education committees, and partner tables as required.
Financial Oversight and Program Administration
- Help coordinate program logistics, including enrollment, orientation, assessments, and schedules.
- Maintain accurate records and files of confidential information.
- Prepare reports and contribute to program evaluations and grant requirements.
- Manage purchasing of materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Manage payments of contractors, facilitators, transportation and meals.
- Ensure that program planning meets budget requirements.

- Strong organization, coordination, and planning skills, with the ability to manage multiple student supports and program activities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a responsive, community-based environment.
- Knowledge of child and youth development and the intellectual, physical, social, emotional, spiritual, and cultural needs of learners.
- Knowledge of family dynamics, community resources, educational systems, and strategies to remove barriers to student learning and engagement
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field such as Education, Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related discipline.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience working in education, student support, youth programming, or community-based learning environments.
- Experience coordinating programs, supporting facilitators or staff, or contributing to team leadership in an education or community services setting.
- Experience facilitating educational, cultural, or community-based programming for children and youth
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office-based, with use of standard office equipment.
- Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
- Extended periods of standing or walking.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Frequent bending and kneeling.
- Occasional travel for meetings, training, and events.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to meet community and organizational needs
