WHAT WE DO
Public Works Department
The Public Works team is responsible for maintaining and operating essential community infrastructure—from water delivery and wastewater treatment to roads, drainage, and facility upkeep. We ensure services meet regulatory standards, support emergency responders, and provide clear resources and bylaws for residents and developers.

Water Services
We deliver safe, reliable water to every property line in the community and maintain fire hydrants for emergency readiness.
- Weekly water testing to ensure drinking-water quality
- Annual fire-hydrant flushing & valve exercising to keep hydrants operational
- Pressure recording and reporting to the Fire Department under our service agreement
- Service up to the property line (private plumbing beyond that point is the homeowner’s or developer’s responsibility)
Wastewater Treatment
Our team operates the community’s wastewater treatment plant and maintains downstream infrastructure.
- Monthly effluent testing to meet provincial discharge guidelines
- Operation of lift stations (three locations) to serve low-lying areas and keep sewer flows moving
- Service coverage for approximately 2,400 residents (including parks)
- Ongoing maintenance on pumps, controls, and outfall equipment
Roads & Drainage
From road painting to pothole repairs, we keep traffic flowing and stormwater draining.
- Line painting (road markings) – completed in winter, long lines in spring
- Snow removal & salting on sidewalks and roadways whenever temperatures approach freezing
- Drainage management: ditch clearing and storm-water infrastructure upkeep
- Road repairs: pothole filling on band-owned roads only
- Tree debris & signage maintenance for safe travel routes
Facility and Grounds Maintenance
We look after community-owned buildings and outdoor spaces to ensure clean, safe environments.
- Indoor maintenance: janitorial services, routine building upkeep
- Grounds care: lawn mowing, trimming, and outdoor cleaning around public facilities
Animal Control & Emergency Contacts
We coordinate animal-control services under formal agreements.
- Domestic animal control (dogs/cats): service agreement with CRD
- Wildlife concerns: contact BC SPCA direct for non-domestic animals
- Electrical emergencies: BC Hydro is responsible for power-pole issues
Cemetery Support & Temporary Road Closures
To protect sacred sites and workers, we manage funeral-related traffic adjustments.
- Funeral road-closure signage to prevent ground disturbance at the cemetery
- Advance notices with explanations to minimize community inconvenience
