Summer Program Leader
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Facilitate interactive, inclusive and developmentally appropriate literacy, numeracy, active living, land-based, arts, and language activities.
- Create a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Supervise and mentor children and youth, ensuring their safety, well-being, positive behaviours, and active participation.
- Build positive relationships with participants through encouragement, patience, and active engagement.
- Manage group routines (snack time, transitions, breaks) to maintain structure and a sense of security.
- Ensure all activities follow safety guidelines and organizational policies.
CORE COMPETENCIES
- Strong understanding of culturally grounded learning practices that uphold the community and cultural values.
- Ability to communicate and engage effectively with children and youth, families, community members, and colleagues.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- A current student, aged 15 – 30 years old, enrolled in full-time secondary or post secondary studies for fall 2026.
- Experience working in an education setting.
- Working knowledge of MS Office software (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Current First Aid & CPR and Food Safe Level 1 are considered an asset
- A valid class 5 driver’s license is considered an asset.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector screening.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Office-based with use of standard office equipment.
- Indoor/outdoor.
- Extended periods of standing or walking.
- Occasional lifting (up to 40lbs).
- Bending, kneeling.
- Occasional travel for meetings, training and events.
- Occasional evening or weekend work to meet community and organizational needs.
