W̱ENÁ¸NEĆ Project Update June 2026
As construction at W̱ENÁ¸NEĆ moves closer, SȾÁUTW̱ is pleased to share that pre-clearing bird nest surveys were completed on June 1st as part of our commitment to caring for the land throughout the construction process.
Keefer Ecological Services Ltd. identified active nests in the area. In keeping with federal and provincial wildlife protections and SȾÁUTW̱ stewardship values, construction will pause while nesting activity runs its course. Biologists will return to the site several times over the coming weeks to monitor the nests and confirm they are no longer active before construction proceeds.
Minimizing impacts on the wildlife and trees of this site is a priority for SȾÁUTW̱ throughout this development, and this is part of that ongoing commitment.
Trails will remain open and accessible in the meantime.
