Q: Who is an Eligible Recipient?

An eligible recipient must be identified as a resident of Canada and one of the following: A registered Indian according to the Indian Act ; An Inuk recognized by one of the Inuit Land Claim organizations; or An infant less than one year of age, whose parent is an eligible recipient

Q: Who sets the tax rates?

The SȾÁUTW̱ First Nation has been given the authority to set their own tax rates through their rates and expenditures by-laws. The process for these annual laws are forwarded to FNTC First Nations Tax Commission of Ottawa and to the Minister of Indian and Northern affairs development of Canada for final approval. These rates are kept fairly with the neighboring municipality.
